Photo a Day : February 1 : Fork

Photo a Day : February 1 : Fork

I am joining in ‘a photo a day’ for the month of February, and decided to use this opportunity to get back in the habit of updating my blog … regularly. 2012 was a bit useless in the blog department and I am determined to get back on track. I have decided to keep them short and sweet so that the task doesn’t feel too daunting. So here goes …

{ F O R K } Well actually it is a spork, or foon I have been told. I always thought these things were a bit stupid in all honesty. Why not just bring both? Well I plan later this year to travel to South America with a dear friend of mine from the UK. In my research of what to see, do, pack and most importantly what NOT to pack I was surprised at how many guide books and blogs mentioned that a spork is an essential travel tool for South America …really? well it seems yes. Apparently the plethora of delicious street food is not to be missed and unless you want to walk around with Argentinian bean sauce down your top then pack a spork! So I will.

Join me in the fun here.

And check out the Instagram fun here.

Vintage Green

I naughtily bought this cute vintage green typewriter today and it made me realise how much I love this colour! Sure there are hundreds of shades and hues but there is something so delicious looking about this drowsy shade that I just love!

Etsy Excitement

Yea Yea I know it has been waaaay too long since I did a post. And that is not to say that I haven’t been busy, in fact quite the opposite! I have been a bit of a machine over the last few months popping out new products and projects here there and every where! It will take me a while to get them all up to date on here but in the mean time I have launched an Etsy store! So go check it out at Machineandadream. I only have necklaces listed at the moment but hopefully there will be a heap of new products over the coming weeks. I am also happy to do custom orders so let me know!

Hoping to update my blog over the Christmas break with what I have been up to as well as a bit of a fresh new look – so watch this space!

The air feels a bit prickly …

So my TAFE College Pattern Drafting teacher always warned us of the perils of holding pins in your mouth. She scolded us every time we put one of those shiny little buggers near our lips. Now every time I’m sewing with a mouthful of metal I always think of her warning, but I will be honest it doesn’t stop me from doing it. That was until I read this article … I Inhaled a Pin!

I think it is fair to say I will no longer be using my mouth as my pin cushion and may this be a lesson to us all!

Nifty Kneeler

My mum and dad are in the process of building and planting a series of raised herb and vegie boxes out the back of their house. So when thinking of something to make my dear mum for Mother’s Day I was pleased to come across this Nifty Kneeler in Kelly Doust’s book The Crafty Kid.

There was nothing too tricky about this nifty little number except the difficulties that sewing with oilcloth can cause.  If you would like some tips on sewing with oilcloth check out these from Sew, Mama, Sew.  Regardless I was happy with the results and so was mum … and her dicky knees 🙂
